Swim Pace Calculator
Calculate swim pace per 100 meters from distance and time, with speed, 50 m pace, pool lengths and predicted times for common swim distances.
The level scale is a freestyle pool reference, not an official qualification standard. It does not adjust for age, sex, stroke, pool length, distance or swim conditions.
Predicted times at the same pace
| Distance | Time | 25 m lengths | 50 m lengths |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 m | 0:56 | 2 | 1 |
| 100 m | 1:53 | 4 | 2 |
| 200 m | 3:47 | 8 | 4 |
| 400 m | 7:35 | 16 | 8 |
| 800 m | 15:11 | 32 | 16 |
| 1500 m | 28:29 | 60 | 30 |
| 3000 m | 56:59 | 120 | 60 |
Estimates use linear extrapolation from the same average pace. Fatigue, stroke choice, turns and open water conditions are not modeled.
Calculate swim pace per 100
English swim-pace intent is usually a quick conversion from a known swim time and distance into pace per 100 meters or yards, plus predicted times for nearby race or training distances.
P100 is pace per 100, T is total swim time, and D is distance in the same unit.
How to use the result
- Use the same pool length and timing method when comparing workouts.
- Treat predicted times as linear pacing math, not a fatigue model.
- For open water or triathlon, allow for sighting, waves, current and drafting.
