Calculate recipe calories from ingredients
Recipe calorie searches are usually about homemade food: add each ingredient, enter the amount used, divide the total by servings and optionally use the finished recipe weight for a per-100 g value.
Ci - calories from one ingredient, mi - ingredient weight in grams, C100i - calories per 100 g.
Crecipe - total recipe calories.
Cserving - calories per serving, N - number of servings.
C100 - calories per 100 g finished recipe, mfinished - cooked yield or final weight.
Per serving vs per 100 g
- Use per serving when the recipe is divided into equal meals or portions.
- Use per 100 g when you weigh cooked food on a plate or log a variable serving size.
- Cooking often changes water weight, so per-100 g values are better when you enter the actual cooked yield.
- Oil left in a pan, drained liquid, marinades and trimming can change the real calories eaten.
