Percent to Fraction Calculator

Convert a percentage to decimal form, a simplified fraction, and a mixed number when the percentage is greater than 100%.

Rule: divide the percentage by 100 to get the decimal form, then reduce the fraction using the greatest common divisor of the numerator and denominator.

Convert a percent into decimal and fraction form

A percent means parts per 100. This calculator converts the percent to a decimal first, then reduces the fraction to lowest terms.

    p is the percentage value.

d is the number of decimal places in the percentage input.

A rounded value such as 33.33% is treated as a finite decimal percentage, not as a repeating one-third.

    Common mistakes

    • 0.5% is not 50%. Half a percent is 0.005 as a decimal and 1/200 as a fraction.
    • Reduce the fraction. 50% starts as 50/100, but the simplified fraction is 1/2.
    • Values above 100% create improper fractions. For example, 150% is 3/2 or 1 1/2.
    • Keep the sign. A negative percent remains negative in decimal and fraction form.
