Carbon Footprint Calculator

Estimate a personal annual carbon footprint in CO2e from transportation, flights, home energy, diet and consumption.

This calculator estimates personal CO2e from entered activity data. It is not an official greenhouse-gas inventory, utility audit or carbon-offset claim.
    Transportation
    Home energy

Avoid entering the same heating energy twice. Natural gas uses 5.3 kg CO2e per therm, and propane uses 5.7 kg CO2e per gallon as rough factors.

    Estimate a personal carbon footprint

English search intent for a carbon footprint calculator is personal and household oriented: enter transport, flight, home-energy, food and consumption inputs, then see a rough annual CO2e estimate by category.

    Rough estimate only
This calculator is not an official greenhouse-gas inventory, corporate disclosure, utility audit or carbon-offset certificate. Use local utility and supplier factors for reporting work.

    How the estimate is calculated

E is CO2e, A is activity data and EF is the emission factor.

Eyear is the annual CO2e estimate across the five categories.

The tool uses U.S.-oriented units for household intent: miles, kWh, therms, propane gallons and kg CO2e. The electricity factor can be replaced with a local eGRID or utility value.

    Factors and limitations

    • Electricity emissions vary by grid region and utility mix.
    • Flight estimates are simplified and do not model cabin class, routing, contrails or exact aircraft type.
    • Diet and consumption are broad lifestyle factors, not a shopping-basket inventory.
    • Tree equivalents are illustrative and are not a verified offset.
