How symbols and bonuses work
X - strike: all pins fall on the first roll, and the frame waits for the next two rolls as bonus.
/ - spare: all pins are cleared in two rolls, and the frame waits for the next roll as bonus.
7 - a normal pin count.
- - miss (0 pins).
10th frame: a strike or spare earns a bonus third roll. After a strike, the pins reset immediately.
Maximum 300 requires 12 strikes in a row: one in each of the first nine frames and three in the 10th.
Turkey means three strikes in a row. It is a nickname for the streak, not a separate scoring rule.
Keep score for ten-pin bowling
Bowling score intent expects the official frame logic: strikes wait for two bonus rolls, spares wait for one bonus roll, and the 10th frame can include bonus rolls to resolve the final frame.
A strike frame can be worth up to 30.
Why some frames stay open
A strike or spare frame cannot be scored until its bonus rolls are known. The calculator shows current score and max possible score so the scorecard remains clear while a game is still in progress.
