    Basic arithmetic calculator

English search intent for a basic calculator is immediate: users want a clean keypad for everyday arithmetic, percent calculations, copyable results, and a small history without opening a scientific calculator.

a is the first number and b is the next number used by the selected operation.

    • Use +, -, x, division, percent, sign change, clear entry, and backspace.
    • Keyboard input supports digits, decimal point, arithmetic operators, Enter, Backspace, Escape, and percent.
    • History is stored locally in the browser so recent calculations can be reused without sending data to a server.

    How percent works

The percent key follows common calculator behavior. Without a pending operation, a percent becomes a decimal. With a previous number and operation, the percent is applied to that previous number.

p is the percent value. The calculator converts it to a decimal when no operation is active.

a is the starting amount and p is the markup percentage.
